Teal was our first bitch, and the foundation of the Cinnstar line. All Cinnstar Tollers go back to her. Teal was out of the first breeding of Tip (CAN BIS CH Westerlea's White Ensign) and Lucy (CAN CH Sundrummer's Seawitch). Tip was Eric's litter brother. She still in many ways typifies what we like in a Toller. Her head type defines the "Cinnstar Head" type. She had lovely correct bone, balance and proportions. Teal finished her Canadian Championship easily with all major points. She always took Best of Winners except at the 1983 Canadian National Specialty where she took Winners Bitch and her six month old son, Widgeon took Reserve Winners male. Her obedience scores were always in the mid 190's and in Mexico she was high in Trial with a score of 199. Though she was not trained at an early age for the field, Teal was trained to the Golden Retriever Club of America WCX level, but a liver infection necessitating removal of a good part of her liver ended her working career. These were in the days before the NSDTRC, USA had a Working Certificate Program. Her first two litters were whelped in Canada, and registered there. Her third was our first USA born litter. This Litter was the litter that Ian: CAN/MEX CH HR Cinnstar's Ian Of Little River CAN/MEX/NSDTRC CD WC***(Open All Age Field Trial Pointed, Canada) was born.
