Toller Rescue

Rescue is something we feel very strongly about here at Cinnstar. We also feel very strongly that ALL breeders should take back or help place/make arrangements for ANY pup they bring into this world for the life of the pup. Further we believe that all puppies should be Microchipped for Permanent Identification. This page is a collection of different thoughts and resources for Toller Rescue.

While the numbers of Rescue Tollers is relatively low, in recent years the number have GROWN! Unfortunately Most of the time a Toller in a shelter is not identified as a Toller. They are listed as some kind of a mix. Thus they are not checked for a microchip. Whenever a concerted effort is made to find Rescue Tollers, they are found. Concerned with the growing numbers of Tollers in need of rescue, 5 long established Toller Fanciers Formed Toller Rescue Inc. TRI is a 501(c)3 non profit organization NOT affiliated with NSDTRC (USA). This allows us to be flexable and rescue close Toller mixes. When you only have an hour to rescue a dog (TRI has Litterally rescue Tollers off the table!), you do not have the luxury to ask for more photos, or make a personal visit first. We also have a Very Active Facebook Page. As the popularity of the Toller grows, the rescue situation has sadly grown as well. TRI is always in need of Volunteers to identify, foster and do home visits. Volenteers are always in short supply. Please Support Toller Rescue Inc.

I rescued a human today

I rescued a human today. Her eyes met mine as she walked down the corridor peering apprehensively into the kennels. I felt her need instantly and knew I had to help her.

I wagged my tail, not too exuberantly, so she wouldn't be afraid. As she stopped at my kennel I blocked her view from a little accident I had in the back of my cage. I didn't want her to know that I hadn't been walked today. Sometimes the shelter keepers get too busy and I didn't want her to think poorly of them.

As she read my kennel card I hoped that she wouldn't feel sad about my past. I only have the future to look forward to and want to make a difference in someone's life.

She got down on her knees and made little kissy sounds at me. I shoved my shoulder and side of my head up against the bars to comfort her.

Gentle fingertips caressed my neck; she was desperate for companionship. A tear fell down her cheek and I raised my paw to assure her that all would be well.

Soon my kennel door opened and her smile was so bright that I instantly jumped into her arms. I would promise to keep her safe. I would promise to always be by her side. I would promise to do everything I could to see that radiant smile and sparkle in her eyes.

I was so fortunate that she came down my corridor. So many more are out there who haven't walked the corridors. So many more to be saved.

At least I could save one. I rescued a human today.

I do not know the author of this work. I would like to give them credit. If you know who authored it, please let me know. Thanks.

Meet 1622

No dog should cross the Rainbow Bridge with only a number for a name.

I am #1622. I was in a shelter in Ohio they did not know what a Toller is. Please do not let this happen to one of my brothers or sisters. Let your local shelter know what we look like and who to contact. In Rescue there is not always joy, there is incredible tragedy when you don't get there in time. Please be there for our little red friends.

Here are Two of Many Rescue Success Stories

The above photo is of Bella, a rescued Toller pup. We rescued her on a Friday, she was slated to be PTS on Monday. She came down with Parvo on Saturday, and she had a the worst case of round worms the vet had ever seen. Bella's survival is a Success Story shared by the whole Toller Rescue Community.
