For the four short years we had Inca, she was always a loving and sweet dog. Rather on the smaller side, she was nicely proportioned, very sound with good angulation, and a short strong back. We kept her from the one litter we had from Kestrel. She was struck down in her prime before she could complete her titles. She had a five point major at the Sunshine Classic going Best of Winners and Best of Opposite Sex. She had two legs on her NSDTRC (USA) CD, with both scores in the 190's. She was just about ready to run in HRC Seasoned. Don was doing all of her training then, and they had formed a very close bond. One morning safely in her kennel her disk ruptured so violently that it destroyed 10 inches of her spinal column. I came home as usual at 8 AM, she was a bit stiff, and so I made an appointment with my vet. By the time we got her there, and then on to the neurosurgeon she was completely paralyzed. After a milogram that showed the irreparable damage, we decided that we could not keep her alive, such an active and vibrant Toller, now resigned to dragging her lifeless rear around, with no bowel or bladder control, and no hope for it to get better. Thus we made the difficult decision to ask her to wait for us at the Rainbow Bridge. Don misses her to this day.

The only fortunate thing I had done was to make the decision to breed her back-to-back seasons, something I had never done in my many years in dogs. I had planed to have two uninterrupted years to campaign and train her, free of motherhood duties. Inca lives on in the 16 puppies she produced. River are Surfer are two of her pups.
